Proverbs 31:13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. May I strive to work vigorously (vs 17), speak with wisdom (26), and fear the Lord (30). As God has put me into a position of SAHM from a person who used to work 40-60 hours a week, I am learning about creating, repurposing items, contentment, and having everyday joy.

Ouch!
As I was sitting on my bed this evening talking to my sister on the phone, my little 22-month-old climbed up on the bed and sat behind the massive pile of pillows up against the headboard. All of a sudden he bonked his head on the headbord, sat straight up, and asked, "Are you okay?" Haha! I'm fine, I'm not the one who hit my head! I started cracking up while my sister was talking (it made me feel a little bad - but she thought it was funny too). It's so funny how kids repeat us and learn what to say. He also sometimes says "God bless you" after he sneezes. I try to teach him to say excuse me, but its cute to hear him tell himself bless you. I love the little things. What a precious age.

Funny but Gross!
Tonight my little guy was a little slap happy. He would go up to our dog, open his mouth, and stick out his tongue a little. She would lick him right in/on the mouth and he would crack up laughing. This just repeated over and over and over and over and...well you get the idea. Boy was it gross, but it made me (and more importantly him) laugh.
Bridal Shower Decorations!
I made these button flowers for my bestfriend's bridal shower. I like them as a big bouquet better than little bouquets, but it cost way too much for buttons to make all the bouquets this big. I think this would be fun for bridal bouquets though!
Here's a picture of the I Do (ring) Me Too! (except I didn't have the "!" on there) sign. Also, you can see the balloon weight. I just wrapped up a sports ball balloon weight from my son's bday party with purple tissue. Saved me a lot of $$!
My beautiful goddaughter, Savannah, oh, and Courtney's daughter. ;)
I do me too sign with foof ball on right. Thank you www.jonesdesigncompany.com for your tutorial.
GIFTS! Who doesn't like gifts?
More foof balls inspired by www.jonesdesigncompany.com. Tutorial here.
Here are the favors: Purple kisses and dove chocolates in cheap bags from Wal-Mart. Tied with a zebra ribbon. I made Save the Date tags too (with Thank You on the reverse side).
Lastly, you can kind of see the awesome zebra paper from Wal-Mart.
I also wanted to mention that the button flower tutorial and the coffee filter sign was inspired by websites that I cannot remember. I found these long before I started pinterest or this blog. So, I didn't keep track. Thank you to those who inspired all the decorations!
Project: Button Letter on plaque.
I found this black plaque in excellent condition at a thrift store for $1.50. I had leftover buttons from my button flowers project (I'll post later). I hot glued the buttons and voila! a pretty custom picture for my wonderful friend, Valisha. She has a zebra-themed room, so I thought this would be great on her wall or on a stand on her dresser (or wherever she wants to put it).
Black Ottoman Bench Redo
So, I have been inspired by pinterest (and a little etsy) to start doing my own projects and not just gawking at other people's talents and creativity. So, I figured I would show you one of my recent projects.
My black ottoman bench before (due to it being one of Lily's favorite play spots in the past):

Taking off the material (scissors and ripping with my hands worked best):

Stapling the new material on (my husband's masculine arm):

I found the zebra material at a thrift store. It is actually a shower curtain. I am now in love with thrifting.
The excess shower curtain:

Doing some trimming:

The finished product:

(Please ignore the fact that I didn't vacuum it out before I took the picture. It was too late at night to vacuum.)
It was fairly easy, but tiring on my back (and Derek's patience - j/k - he was a good sport). It only took a few hours from start to finish - well worth it - considering it only cost a few dollars. Now, I don't have to cover the bench with a blanket anymore. A good fix for a damaged $80 bench.

Mom Moment
So, now that I have made my first post, I have decided to share a mom (& dad) moment with you.
Background: Our house has been on the market for almost a year now. We have a 1 yr old named Carter (and he'll be 2 in March).
Story: As my husband and I were sitting on the couch looking at possible houses to purchase, we heard a noise. My husband asked, "what was that noise?" I said, "I have no idea, but it sounds like he's in the bathroom so you better go check it out." My husband went in there and all of a sudden I heard, "CARTER! No!...Give it to me! Wait - no!...Ahhh!" or something to that effect. So, I got up and looked. Carter had taken the toliet brush and had managed to get water on everything outside of the toliet - the cabinets, the floor, the bathtub, the stepstool, the potty chair, and...the wall. And to put theicing on the cake lid on the toliet - we had a house showing the next day.

Hello Blogger World! I have finally decided to start a blog. I finally took the plunge after reading so many blogs linked from Pinterest. So many of you have great DIY tutorials and I decided I could give it a shot myself. Please be patient with me as I figure this out. Any tips would be great!
